Hopefully you've recovered from all the holiday candy. Enjoy a pair of F-18 Super Hornets on that new widescreen monitor!
F/A-18E Super Hornet Refueling 1680 x 1050 Widescreen Wallpaper
This shot is spectacular. I made some slight enhancements, but baseline it's a tremendous photo with a great subject and background. Maybe you're like me, but shots like this remind me why I love aviation so much.
F-14B Tomcat and F/A-18E Super Hornet Formation 1680 x 1050 Widescreen Wallpaper
Hard to believe but this shot of the F-14 and F-18 together is a thing of the past. The F-14 is retired and the F-18 now assumes the role. This widescreen background took a generous helping of post-processing to adjust the color and enhance the contrast.
Enjoy.
F/A-18E Super Hornet 1680 x 1050 Widescreen Wallpaper
F/A-18E Super Hornet 1680 x 1050 Widescreen Wallpaper.Sweet high AOA afterburner shot.
The original shot was in portrait format. I rotated and cropped to 1680. The rotation left some dead areas so I needed to duplicate the sky around the corners.
I adjusted the levels, contrast, saturation, and sharpening. It's a great shot.
F-18E Formation Flight 1680 x 1050 Widescreen Wallpaper
Today's widescreen wallpaper features a pair of F/A-18E Super Hornets in tight formation. Almost as a good as the Blue Angels!
F-18E and F-18F Formation Flight 1680 x 1050 Widescreen Wallpaper
Nice shot of two F-18 Super Hornets flying in formation (hooks down). I think the Navy squadrons have done a great job personalizing the Hornets (like they did with the Tomcats).
F-18E Super Hornet Tomcatters 1680 x 1050 Widescreen Wallpaper
I like this Tomcatters paint scheme on the F-18E Super Hornet. Nice.
F18E Super Hornet Carrier Takeoff
Here's the Super Hornet preparing for a carrier takeoff. The steam from the catapult adds a dramatic touch to the shot.
F-14B Tomcat with F-18E Super Hornet In Formation 1680 x 1050 Widescreen Wallpaper
Nice shot here of an F-14B Tomcat backseater with an F-18E Super Hornet in formation behind. Enjoy!
F/A-18E Super Hornet 1680 x 1050 Widescreen Wallpaper
Here's a shot with great composition. The aircraft is in focus and the sun angle makes the HUD glow green Excellent.
Super Hornet Carrier Landing 1680 x 1050 Widescreen Wallpaper
You get a sense here of the precision needed to land an aircraft on a carrier deck. There's definitely not much room for error! This panning type shot blurs the background but keeps the subject somewhat in focus. Overall, it has a great 3D type effect.
Super Hornet 1680 x 1050 Widescreen Wallpaper
Here's a great sunset shot of an F/A-18E Super Hornet getting a cat launch off a carrier in the Persian Gulf. For this shot, I added a deep yellow color filter and adjusted the contrast. I think it turned out well.
