There are just so many reasons I enjoy this photo. I love the morning colors in the sky, the subdued lighting, and the color reflecting off the canopy. It's a great photograph. There is beauty in the design of this amazing aircraft.

If you know anything about the A-10, you know it is a heck of a bomb truck but it's as slow as your Grandma's Dodge K car. Here you see the A-10 catching a drink from a tanker and that definitely had to be one full flap slow flying tanker.That withstanding, it's still a rock'in wallpaper! Enjoy.
The Top Gun poll is over and Maverick personality took first place. Congrats to all you Mavs out there. I too voted as a Maverick so I'm in good company.
To show how old I am, I remember seeing Top Gun when it first came out while I was in USAF tech school in Denver, Colorado. Speaking of which, Feb 4th is always a day to remember for me. It was on Feb 4th, 1986 that I joined the USAF. Will never forget that day.
Now, as for the Patriots, that just sucks. On my flight to San Fran, I had a lay-over in Houston, TX. I caught a little of the 3rd and 4th quarters and was hoping the Patriots would finish off the Giants. Needless to say, on the flight the pilots broke in and told us that the Giants had won. There was little response and a lot of unhappy people (myself included). Congrats to you Giant fans. You guys suck...

Every pilot will like the engines. They produce a lot of thrust, even in military power. I was in military power the first time I went through Mach 1. In burner, the airplane reached Mach 1.2 real fast. It has very good acceleration better than anything I've seen. Though I wasn't plastered against the seat, I experienced the nice acceleration that comes from getting faster really quick. The movement of the airspeed indicator is most impressive. The Mach number clicks up real fast even above Mach 1.0. In the F-15, pilots have to hit afterburner and stay there to go supersonic.

Earlier this week I was working with photo filters and came up with a blue filter and tried it on this F-16 shot. I figured that some of you might like it, so I'm posting it.So who's going to win the Superbowl? I'm putting my money on the Patriots. I'm actually flying to San Francisco tonight (during the game!) so I won't know anything until I get there around midnight.

Friday Video: B-1B Bomber
Here's an excellent video on the B-1B Bomber. The USAF transformed this strategic bomber into a tactical role. It's not fitted with the latest tactical weapons and is able to perform missions normally assigned to fighters. It's quite a testament.
